I like the view of the inside of the beak Chris. Sharp, and the colours are naturally exposed. I would maybe take half off the top.

Sharpness, colors and open beak look very good. I wish for a lower angle and might put the bird a bit higher in the frame.

Fantastic detail. With a bird as colorful as this we'll always want more. I would've liked to see more of those electric-blue wings.

Electric blue wings like this http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/Fy9KcV8aPLO_P3Yp32NvTw?feat=directlink . Not very good, but the best I could do. Was taken in Zambia - MkIII + 100-400. When they decide to take off, they're very fast.

By the way, just loved your Roller portrait. isn't the Lilac-breasted Roller the national bird of Botswana?

I would've like to have less room at the top and more to the bottom. Still, nice species, terrific detail, colors and sharpness. Congratulations!

Done a repost and took a bit off the top. I could not get a lower angle on this one. It were very close so I took a couple of portrait shots.

Thanks for all the views, comments and advice it's much appreciated
