I tried this for the first time today, I mean, joining by hand. Worst problem I had was the different colors of BG and matching the lines. I usually handle this in curves, but this time I had to go to Hue/Sat and curves. If anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears. I didn't try stitching in PS because of the color difference. Maybe, it would have been a the solution. :)
What it looked like before work is posted for comparison. File was over 300 MGs

Hi Fabs, This is a wonderful image of a male Bluet Damselfly well worth the work. The BG looks seamless and the detail and coloring of the Damsel is excellent.

Very successful stitch Fabs! Your solution regarding the BG looks good to me. I see a bit of OOF in the DF's wing near one of the seams but not on the seam? As for other methods for fixing the BG color, I would have started by shooting in manual mode, to insure the same exp for all three shots (but I'm sure you are aware of this).

Fabs Darlin', The image pops and it's TOPS!! The catchlight in the eye rocks, and the everything is so sharp. You did a great job going from the original images to the final product. Big congrats!

I tried to lighten that LLC but can't get it without leaving the wings a different shade of green. Darn it! Still, it's pretty awesome as is...what a neat idea to do a pano crop!

No, I was using Aperture. But the BGs had different colors anyway.

Will try again next time I go :)

What a neat idea. You must have been pretty fast on the button as well. Very nice and sharp with lots of detail. It is intersting to see the originals as well to get some sort of idea of how you must have preplanned the shot. Really well done. Dave

I just checked the files. Exposure is the same. It's the variation from BG left to BG right that's different in all three.

Fabs wonderful result after a lot of hard work. I would have never thought to make a pano of a damselfly. Well done!

how many hours' work?? you did a great job! I've got tons to learn it seems. I love stitching but when the BG's differ that much I usually digress and work on something else. big congrats! super colours and detail.
