I like the idea and to enhance the image even more maybe you could try to use curves or levels in Photoshop to make the darks pure black to make the tulip stand out even more. There is nothing in the shadows to see anyway to I would darken them even more.

Hey Raymond, nice to see a flora post, I like the idea with the top lighting, makes the flower color really pop against the BG. I would agree with Robert with burning the BG to a solid black and then even up the crop on the sides. Well done, and keep them coming.
