This is my third Osprey post... guess I was kinda excited to see them :) This was in the Everglades three weeks ago. I think I cropped it to tight on the left? Info: D300, 80-400 F/4.5-5.6 at 400m. Handheld. ISO 200, 1/500, f/11. Thanks

Hi Amanda,

You did a nice job with the contrast and have the bird looking at you - that's good too. As you mentioned, more room to the left would be better. Generally, you want to have about a 2/3 (front), 1/3 (back) edge distances from the bird to the image edge. However, there are going to be times when you can break that guideline like when you have something really interesting behind the bird you want to include.

Here, if it is just the nest to the right, AOK to include it.

Hi Amanda,
I like this one and I don't mind the room at the left side, because the bird is looking to the right and has enough room in front of it's eyes.
Would be better to be at eye level, but don't know, how to manage.....
