Kind of throwing an extra post up here that may give some a few ideas.
I know a couple have mentioned being at a loss for blurs. It's new to
me to. I try to visualize what I want, then execute it....but often end up
playing and then I discover what I should have visualized in the first place.
And I have not yet tried the in-cam blurs....have seen some great ones by Frans Lanting
Here is a frog blur....details below.
Thanks for looking in and c/c

Here (sort of) is the workflow for above image, I forget
some of the steps in my old age. This week is first time
to try this blurr stuff!
Started with this image as 1600 x 1200....just a little juvie frog.

Used Dave Seeram's illustration action and some texturing
http://i31.tinypic.com/2801ieu.jpg
Made a very very loose selection of the frog, inverted, strong motion
blur and refined blended the edges by painting on a layer mask around
around frog and tree. Added a green/yellow gradient.
Frosted Glass distortion to break the smoothness.
I thought I was finished, then came the zoom blur around an eye selection, normal
blend mode at about 75%. Saturation boost. During the process, there
are several different opacity changes etc.....just tweaks to personal taste.
Flatten it all and save whatever sizes one wants.

Hope this gives some ideas......if not, just don't sleep for 3 days.
The blurs will come naturally!!

Dave,
Thanks so much for this tute mate - you do indeed rock. I won't have a lot of time this week to play with blurs, so I may not get to post a lot at all. But next week I have a week off, so I'll fit the upcoming themes into my brain and spend a day just working on those.
What a bummer for me. :(

Really turned out well Dave. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and how the radial blur looks like rays of light. Neat illustration effect too!
