Lot's of these birds are nesting now at the glades but haven't seen any youngsters peeking out yet.

Good profile pose, and I love the textured tree bark. Even more EC, and/or some flash would have helped with the darkish subject against the lighter BG. I wouldn't mind a bit more space above.

I like the trunk what kind of tree is this? Pose, open beak, eye contact and sharpness look good. I agree, with a blue BG you could have dialed in about +1 EC for more details in the blacks.

Super pose, sharp, and like the detail and colours on him. I agree a little more from in camera would have worked nicely.

The texture of that tree is mega. I would wish for fractionally more head turn towards you. And agree with fill flash or lightening the bird and the iris a bit. The COMP as is is perfect for my eye. If anything, just a bit more sky for the perfect 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 woodpecker DESIGN.

I really like this profile image -- nicely shows the typical woodpecker tail-brace and 4 toes fore and aft. Beautiful snag surface! I've taken the liberty of increasing the overall brightness in CS4, then, using Viveza, slightly brightening the tail to reveal details, and the eye to increase sense of contact. What do you think?

Hey Craig, I think that it is a big improvement but you forgot to fix the head angle! :) :D :)
