You'll have to excuse me - I can't post the exif data until tomorrow. My Internet connection at home is still defunct so I ran into work to post and forgot to bring the data along for the ride.

I know this much - I made this the same day as the "Big Daylily/Small Ant" image and I'm pretty sure this was with all three extension tubes hooked together (12mm, 20mm & 36mm.)

I have been wrestling with whether to post this image or one of two others that I also took that day but I keep going back to this one so here you go: Daylily stamen up close and personal! :D

Canon 40D, EF 100mm f2/8 macro & stacked extension tubes
f4 @ 1/160th, ISO 200
Manual mode, pattern metering, natural sunlight
Processed in ACR & CS4; small crop, increase in luminosity/decrease in saturation.

What amazed me mot about this is the color, so rich and subtle at the same time. Nice play of lines.

Fabs, I have finally found the secret in using a Canon camera and getting good yellows: I decrease the saturation by 5-8 points in Adobe Camera Raw and then increase the luminosity by about the same amount (5-10 points.) It pulls out the over-bleeding and leaves it with this rich, beautiful lemony yellow color.

WOW, I can say tons about this image, but all I can say is WOW. Me likes lots! Yellow is one of my fave colors (and Purple).

Beautiful. Lovely subtle colors. Love the feeling of movement created by the stamens.

Not much more to add, Jules. I told you on your blog that this is a stunner and nothing has changed my mind here. Good thing moderators can't win! :D

Even though you're going to disqualify me for a second time,:(:D Im still gonna vote yours as the winner. You've been doing a great job with your soft abstracts lately.
