One of my images from my first attempt at photographing these tiny jewels in flight, using a multi-flash set-up. Four flashes on the bird and one on the artificial BG. I used a hanging HB feeder to attract the birds to the set-up and, once they were regularly using the feeder, I replaced it with a local flower (Kobleria tubiflora) - one I had seen them feeding from naturally.
Canon Mk111 and 500mm f4 IS.
Exp. ISO 500, 1/200 @ f29. But, of course, the real exposure is the flash duration of the flashes - approx 1/18000 of a sec.

I generally prefer natural light hummer shots. However this is a nice image. Good BG, and exposure. Not so sure about the flowers, and cut off leafs. I ish the wings were either farther forward, or fully extended back. You might try another round of USM as well, as the bird looks a tad soft.

Looking forward to more!

Hi, I think the tongue sticking is what made this image for me, everything else in my opinion is great.
