Another really cool image Alfred! The sharpness of the fly and the assassin bug's front end is great, as are the colours exposure and comp. I'm not familiar with these (just looks like a colourful mosquito from the north ;-)...but if they don't move to fast when they have prey, have you tried to get another shot with the rear legs and abdomen in focus and then do a composite? I've tried a few with perched dragonflies with some success even in front on views like this one.

Cheers!
Bruce

Another very cool behavior/action image, Alfred. These orange assassins do make great photo subjects. Very sharp up front where it most needs to be. Are you using a tripod for these or are you hand holding and letting the flash stop the motion?

Steve I'm using a tripod but at times like a monopod so I need help from the flash Occasionally will used it as main !!

Love that head on view, Alfred! Any idea what kind of leaf he's sitting on? The rosey color is wild!

Thank Al...that's such a neat BG.

I saw tons of Assasin bugs at the arboretum in KC today. I may have gotten an image or two but haven't downloaded the photos yet. I know now what you mean about them hiding! They are underneath flowers and back in crevices...they really hide out!
