I like the incoming pose, sharpness and nesting material but the BG puts it over the top for me. If anything, I wish the nesting material wouldn't partially cover the eyes.

One can only appreciate the difficulty of an image like this if they have tried it. For me, the dark colored bird against that bg, and carrying nesting material too is just superb. The stick/eye thing doesn't bother me in the least as you still have eye contact and that's where their bill is.

Very cool flight angle, great wing position with fanned tail, awesome BG, and nest material is a great bonus!
Nicely done!

A stunning image Fabs. The reflection is beautiful. This fellow has intent in his eye. Very sharp for HH too.

Love the head-on angle and the wonderful BG. The slightly blurred wings add to the sense of motion. Thanks for sharing, :)

I'm a big fan of vibrant photographs and the bg here is just gorgeous. I'm not crazy about the wing position but that doesn't alter the feel of this image.

ditto Stephen sweeeeet BG. looks like a difficult customer to expose correctly and you have done very well. nesting material a bonus :)

There's enough of the bird showing to make this work. Sometimes we see a slither of an outline of a bird flying towards us, with no detail, and it doesnt work. I like the flying posture in this, and his building material a bonus. Actually your amazing technicolour BG is a bigger bonus. Well captured Fabs.

Fantastic image Fabs. I love all the foilage colors reflected in the water. To get a head on view sharp with that tiny head is something:)
