When I am at the Caribbean I am always amazed how these pelicans hunt. I tried to capture the moment; despite the strong light and the not ideal light angle I like it. Thanks for looking.

Lorant:

Excellent timing. Not always easy to catch them just so. Sharp.

I think you did well with the light, considering what you had to work with.

I do find the wave just in front of his head a bit distracting.

If you have the room, I would add a bit of canvas to the left side.

Cheers

Ditto Randy. The light angle, and harsh light are image killers for me. If you have the opportunity, you could try going back when the light is better.

I like the pose, details and water color and wish we could see a bit more of the head.

An amazing capture. I have never seen a pelican in this act at all. I like the torquoise colour of the water, and in this, I wish you had captured this a milli second sooner.

Stuart:

It is interesting about the timing. I have hundreds of diving pelican shots, and very few where the head is just above the water, or just starting to enter the water. Odd, but true.

super pose here! love that tropical water colour...you exposed it perfectly and a difficult one to fit into the frame I'm sure!

Szia Lóránt ;)

You are a good critic of your work. I like the image but would also like the light to be kinder. Well captured! :)

I am OK with the light and the light angle--the head blocked by the wave and zero eye contact are the big problems here for me.... Sharp with a good EXP but this one goes into the "almost" file.

What a pose captured! Agree light not a problem here, but as Arthur said the head being blocked holds no attention to this image for me. Superb effort to capture this tho! Well done!
