One from archives, taken way back when with my old D70 and the Nikkor 18-70mm DX lens in the days before I made my bank manager hate me. Comments welcome.

I think this works out very well Mitchell. The trees form a good frame for the flow of the clouds caused by the slow shutter speed. The motion in the trees also adds to the appeal. You minimized the ground - which is good - to provide support to the image and maximized the sky and clouds.

If you have the exposure information, please post it as it helps us to critique and others to learn. Thanks for posting.

Hi Mitchell,
This does have a nice feel to it even with the OOF tree parts Because as Robert mentioned.....they form a nice framing element. Are the colors from sunset?.....or just the glow over the long exposure? In any case works well for the reasons Robert mentioned.

Everything has been said. But I must repeat, that the sky is really beautiful.
Hope you post the exposure information, as I want to know if my guesses are true.

Love everything about this, especially the bit of fog on the water. I would lose the lights....

Thanks very much everyone, much appreciated. Arthur I was contemplating losing those lights so thanks for an additional push to do it :) 136 seconds @ f/8 on a very cold evening.

Good plan. With a scene like that, you gotta hate civilization.....
