Another shot in my series of the scorpion killing the beetle in the harsh terrain at the bottom of the Fish River Canyon in Namibia (2nd only to the Grand Canyon in size).

All comments most welcome! Time of day was noon so I had to work with the light I had.

Canon 1000D with Tamron 70-300mm Di Tele-Macro on Macro setting @ 180mm focal length

Good action. Good detail. Interesting color. It just seems a little tight in the frame.

You were closer than I would have gotten! Only comment I have would be that a little more room at the front of the frame (left side) might have been nice but this is really excellent as is, Morkel. Did you do anything special in pp that calmed down the midday sun?

sorry Julie only saw your question now.

I didn't do anything specifically - played a lot with levels and S/H to atone the midday desert glare. I've seen on newer edits from this series that a cooling filter does wonders.

Well, Morkel, you did an excellent job! Nice pp work!

thanks Julie. oh, and I also cloned out a long stalk of dry grass in the bokeh which created a distracting white line from the butt of the scorpion to the top of the frame :) nobody picked it up so I'm getting better at that hehe
