I photographed this right before the first light hit the mountains at Oxbow in early October. It was our anniversary and one of the most beautiful mornings I've ever seen. I had a wider angle lens on my D2Xs mounted on the tripod and took this and several tighter images handheld with the D2X and 70/200mm.
Comments and critiques welcome.

An absolute beauty. What processing did you do if any?

Thanks, Gary. I processed in Capture NX to adjust levels and curves and used a Nik graduated ND filter to intensify the sky a bit. Sharpening and resizing in PS. It was an incredible morning.

Have you tried from Scott Kelby's book -Dave's technique to find neutral grey? Its works quite well on landscapes and great blue herons. I think incredible is an understatement.

Gayle,

I like use of the leading lines of the lake to guide the view into and around the image. The colors are great and the pink sky at top a nice touch with the gray fog below leading into the mountains. The mountain's reflection is subtle and effective.

Perfectly processed, gorgeous light and a lovely range of colors throughout. Your composition is almost there, but too much of the mountain is cutoff on the right side leaving the image a little unbalanced. The conditions you photographed here are amazing.

I like the colors and fog a lot. The pink sky is wonderful. I agree that a tad more mountain on the right would add even more impact.

The pink sky and the fog to the left here coupled with the river bend makes this one heck of a winner. Frame it and hang it.
