A working bird. This male would bring nesting material to this bramble, and then hand off to female. Photo taken a couple weeks ago. 50D, 400/5.6 at 5/6, 1/750, EC1.5, ISO400, cropped vertical from a horizontal.

I don't know this species but I believe that you did pretty good on exposing the blacks. The use of fill flash really helped here.

Good nice clean shot of this difficult to photograph bird.

Nice job of catching the color sheen in the feathers. Good eye detail as well. That's some interesting nesting material, any idea what it is?

Good job on the exposure, and it shows up some of the colours nicely. The OOF leaves on the left balances the comp.

hahaha, what a price! I love that mouthful and the hints of green on the left, well done.
The ones I see here have more purple on the plumage.

Thanks for comments everyone and thanks to Juan for mentioning the use of flash. I needed to have mentioned that.
Steve, I am not sure what the nesting material was. It looks like possibly the tops off old cattails. The bird would fly down to edge of Georgia Straight, salt water, and come back with a mouthful. It was pretty close to the Fraser River Delta. I never bothered to look and now I am interested. Dave
