I took this earlier today off Highway 1 near Pigeon Point. The settings were -

40D Sigma 50-500mm @ 417mm hand held
1/1000 sec, f/8 Mode: Av Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -1/3 ISO: 400

Increased contrast, saturation, applied NR on the bg, selective sharpening and usm. Your c&c will be appreciated.

Hello indranil

this is really good image.
to me if you gave little bit room on top and left it would have been nice .. also maye be you could have blurred the bg a little bit more so that the bird can pop out a bit more from the BG waves contrast.

just a thought.

I like the COMP and the EXP is good, but the feathers seem lacking in sharp detail.

Mital, thanks for your membership support; it is great to see some many new photographers from India participating here.

Super flying posture, with good separation of the wing and head. I like the light, and pops from the sea BG nicely.

Love the pose, comp, light, colors, and detail altthough it feels like too much SH was applied.
Congratulations!

Artie, thanks for the feedback. I went back to the workflow and multiplied the layer to check if this makes a difference in the feather details. Here is a repost...

Thanks Ramon, I used a very small s/h (4/2%); most of the changes I did in ACR. In the repost I am not using s/h.. Does this make any difference on your screen?

Mital, Stuart, thanks for your feedback.

Yes it does, little changes can make big differences, I like the repsot much more as the colors also look better. Thanks!
