Image created one cold and cloudy morning last November at Plymtouth Long Beach in Plymouth MA.

Even at f14 it's hard to get much DOF on a flock this deep, do I opted to have the foremost birds in focus.

Nikon D300, 500 VR, TC14EII, ISO 800, F14, 1/120, UniWB, CW metering, +1.0 EV applied

Love it, love the fact that you can see the legs of the bird's in the first row.
Lovely light condition. Congratulations!

Wonderful, all the birds in the same position is what makes this image. The depth is great too.

Jim:

Very interesting one. The DOF is a challenge here, and I think you probably made the best choice. It would have been interesting to see how far you could focus into the flock and still keep the front row acceptably sharp.

I tried a pano crop, coming down about 1/3 of the way from the top. There is a slight natural break line based on some color variation there. It looked OK. So hard to not clip some of the birds, not matter how you crop this.

Thanks for sharing.

Love the monochromatic look and the clean lower edge. I wish that the preening bird and the one with its head raised had been sleeping like the rest of them.

Lovely textures - even the seaweed on the beach works well to frame the front corners. I would explore Randy's pano crop suggestion as it can deal with Artie's 2 birds too.

Super patern created by the birds. Well seen and captured.
