Sara & I headed down to Buenos Aires NWR southwest of Tucson this morning. Aguirre Lake was mirror smooth when we arrived, but the few birds that were there kept to the opposite shore as we rounded the lake.
I saw this image heading my way as this Grebe slowly sailed past us in the opposite direction, so I got to a clearing between some grasses and waited for it to get to the reflections I wanted. The wake looks much better in the original images! A few hot spots on the Grebe's back, neck & bill are water droplets that focused the sunlight.
Canon 20D
1/2000th
Sigma 50-500 - 500mm @ f/ 8
ISO 200
AV -2/3 stop compensation
Pano crop in ACR, Noise Ninja, slight midtone levels & increase blue stauration in PS
(Oops, I see I missed a dust spot or two)
