I am posting from the Orlando Airport on my way to ANCH and then Katmai for baby eagles and Coastal Brown Bears(which are actually large grizzlies).

have been doing great on the young Ospreys and just the other morning I saw several hen turkeys with about six poults. I was in my car but no matter, they were not easy. I managed just one single frame of one of them with its head out of the grass (with a half-way decent HA).

Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens with the 1.4X II TC and the EOS-1D MIII on the BLUBB. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +2/3 stop: 1/640 sec. at f/9.

Gotta run!

Based on my experiences with these guys, you did well to isolate him from his siblings. Interesting to look at the different patterns in the developing feathers. Good luck for a productive trip.

Artie, I like the DOF in this, together with the light and detail. Lovely eye, and like the softer colours of the BG.

Adorable baby with a really nice eye. These little ones are so fast that you did well to catch him alone.

I don't know if this work better to you or not, to me it does as the OP seemed IMO slightly bright. If I may, here's a repost. Not a big difference but... :)
