Did some more experimenting with the technique of having some flowers in between the camera and the blossom I'm photographing. Here, since there were no blossoms in the right place to create the effect, I picked a lilac blossom and held it just in front of the camera. Any C&C are welcome!

Olympus SP-550 UZ
f4.5 @ 1/200, ISO 100, -0.7 EV
Aperture priority mode, pattern metering, cloudy WB
Processed in PS CS2; cropped, curves adjustment, hue/saturation, noise reduction, and lightened and cloned out several dark areas in the BG

Great results. Next time, try to hold it over the whole bloom to veil the total image. It may look awesome!

Thanks Fabs. Awhile back I had posted a shot of apple blossoms using this same technique, and some had suggested having a little less softness so that's what I was trying to do here. Will try your suggestion though when I can!

I'd love to see it with the same degree of softness throughout the entire plant, Christopher. Right in the middle of this one is perfection!
