Another one of the many bears I was able to photograph in Yellowstone in late June
D200, 1/250, F6.3, 70-200 @ 200, spot metering, ISO 200
Thanks for the comments and the learning that comes with them!

I like the compositon here wth the grizz on the upper right PP looking back into the frame. You had some good light and nice colors.. Seems a bit soft on my monitor. Maybe a bit more sharpening.....

Nice pose. It looks a little yellow to me.

Todd, Yes on my monitor you have over sharpened the image. I love the composition! If you are using the Nikon 70-200 VR don't be afraid of opening it up, it is a very sharp lens. It appears the entire image is slightly soft so one could expect camera movement.
Best,Howard.

The image was taken hand held so camera movement is the culprit! I wish it was the nikon but alas it is the sigma. I just purchased the D300 and 80-400vr and the 70-200vr will likely come next.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time for critiques.

I like the composition here. My only small nit is that some parts of the fur seem somewhat overexposed and therefore washed out. Maybe try selectively darkening the fur.
Btw, camera shake at 1/250 sec @ 200 mm??? Had you been drinking? Looks sharp to me though, real sharpness can only be judged viewing the original.

As mentioned I really like the composition..However I comment on a image as presented, and bottom line is....as presented the image is soft overall for whatever reason. I feel it is unfair to mislead the maker to say otherwise!!
Best, Howard.
