The female this time. We went again today but there was no wind, making it difficult since they could land anyway they wanted, that of course, would be the wrong way. Anyway, it is very challening and exciting when you nail one.

Great pose and details, the damselfly adds to it. Maybe a tad more contrast?

Very nice feel, I'm tempted to agree with Axel about the contrast but on the other hand
both the insect and the primaries give a feel of transparency. Quite out-of-the box and I like it!

Fabs:

Nice wing/tail display, like the transillumination

I might be tempted to selectively darken the wings of the prey just enough to make it stand out more from the background. I know they are essentially clear, but might be interesting to make them stand out just a bit more.

Hi fabs...

I photograph these a lot and I know how tough it is when there is no wind to slow them down or direct them!

White skies are a given with these birds (at least I've never gotten one with a blue sky behind it) and I've always found that if I apply a bit of contrast sharpening, it does wonders.

And absolutely satisfying, too, I would imagine :)

Another great one! Wonderful details !

Fabs,
Your flight images continue to amaze me. I scouted the closest PM location today and now that the rain has let up will get out and give it a try. You are quite an inspiration.

Love the high key look and feather details, diagonal comp works well - prey is a bonus.

Super posture with a full wingspread and fanned tail. I like the detail in this too, and his catch a bonus.
