This is a Great Blue Heron (White Morph) that I photographed in the Keys in Southern Florida. Picture taken with a Nikon D2X, ISO 400, 70 - 200MM F2.8 VR Lens, 1/125 sec at F11.0

Interesting plumage. I wish for a lower angle, better eye contact and find the stick left of the chest a bit distracting.

Hi Peter, I moved this to ETL where you can get the help that you need.

You selected an interesting subject in near-prime condition, the exposure is good, and the image is sharp enough. In addition to the problems mentioned above, the perch tself and the distant tree in the LRC are quite distracting, the bird is a bit too big in the frame, and there are several dust spots in the URC. The reason for the lack of eye contact is the poor head angle; the bird's head is turned well away from you.

later and love,

artie

Thank you all for your comments. I agree and hope to remember them the next time I'm out there.
