Something different, for me

Hello and happy memorial day weekend to all. I was back out to the butterfly garden trying new things, at least new to me. Anyway I PP this one a tad different using onOne. What do you think of this White Peacock image? Taken with the D300, Nikon 70-300VR with extension tube. f 10, 1/160, iso 800.

Nancy, that is one kind of gorgeous! I really like the PP technique - it really compliments the softness of the butterfly. Great combination of colors as well. Beautiful!

I like the lighting on the butterfly, very complimentary. You did a good job on keeping your image sensor parallel to the plane of the butterfly. Only the bottom of the wings are starting to go out of plane.

My only other comment would to consider down playing the red area behind the left antenna. Because it is red and reasonably bright, it draws my attention. Its a great color, but too strong in that location for my taste. If it was the same intensity as the other reds, I think it would help to frame him nicely.

Nice to stick the tube on. What working distance were you at with this combo?

Thanks Julie and Randy for your comments and suggestions! Randy I will look at downplaying that red bit, good idea. Also, the tube worked great on that lens. I guess I was about 16 to 18 inches away.

Thank you so much Kaushik!:D The plug in for CS3 by OnOne is FocalPoint. It gives you the ability to change the aperture as in the blur of the image. Plus change the vignette. It has sliders that effect feather, opacity, vignette, etc. You can even change the plane of focus just like using a tilt-shift lens. I try to use it in small doses, but you can be very artisitic or dramatic with it. I really like. With this image I dialed in a fair amount of blur and a small, lighter vignette. Nacy, I'm so glad you are picking up macro, it is very rewarding and you seem to have a natural talent for it.
