Let try another "what is this shot". This one is from nature, shot in the woods. It's a plant.

Mike, neat capture, I would have to say it looks like Skunk Cabbage leaves just budding out.

Mike,

Wonderful detail to capture the cilia like projects. I agree with Jared and also think its skunk cabbage.
Love the lighting and color on this one....

Mike,

I have not been in the woods since moving from Virginia. Spent time in the Shenandoah region and its forests.

Can I ask what color the flowers are?

OK doesn't look like anyone knows what this is. It's a Mayapple as it just emerged from the ground in the spring. At this point it's about three inches tall, usually it's more on the green side but sometimes you'll find them in this purple color.

Mike,

You got me on this one. I've actually taken photos of mayapples along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia and never seen one this color. They were always green and were an early spring wildflower. Wonder if there's regional differences assuming this one is from Michigan.

Thanks for sharing....

Hey Mike,
I was late to the party on this one.....but still didn't know what this was even though I've photographed a few of them myself. The little fine hairs as well as color contrast really make this work.
