Posted a back view of this guy a couple of days ago, now turn for the front! I'm still impressed by the beautiful face markings this species has...and the "buzzing" song is pretty unique. Fun to watch and photograph:)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/7.1, ISO 200, -0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, slight crop for comp. Audio used to lure it in.

This is adorable, love the puffed feathers and profile. Well exposed and neat BG and perch.

Oh Daniel, I like this one better than the last and the last one was great. Love the light and beautiful BG. I see a bit tighter crop here- I like!! I think this is close to perfect. I would have liked the lichen to have finished on its own rather than be cropped but this is a very very small point in a great image.

Another beautiful rendition of this bird, Daniel. Good light, sharpness, exposure, background, and comp - though I would agree with John about the cut lichen (a minor point). Well done.

Plain and simply great,
good work, not an easy task to get
such a great feel out of LBJ.

Daniel:

Its all been said, so just let me add my congratulations. I do particularly like the way the lower foot curls around the perch.

when they look like little fuzzballs, you gotta love them.
Nice exposure and pose Daniel

Like this one much better actually. Looks sharper, has less sharpening artifacts and perch is thinner. Composition and BG are just awesome...

Hi Daniel, lovely leaning pose, exposure looks spot on, and what a perfect OOF BG. I would maybe move him to the right a tad, so the perch is at the TRC.

Great Shot Daniel! I really like this pose, and BG really makes him pop. Agree with John regarding the lichen, but not a big deal.
Well done!

Well captured Dan. I haven't been out in weeks and now I see what I've been missing!
