have some fun doing it.

After the conclusion of a workshop I did for the Kendell Camera Club, Sid and I went for some supper (Sid and Blake were my co-leaders).
When the hostess said it was an one hour wait, we said cool.
As I do most of the time, I had my camera (with a lens) with me.

I noticed an interesting looking cypress tree with some unusual lighting on and around it.

This image was created with a Nikon D300 and Tamron 11-18mm lens.

ISO 1600, 4 seconds, hand held, F8.
I zoomed from 11-15mm and back 15-11mm about 3 times during the exposure.
I topped it off with a blast of flash Sid was holding about 20' away.

Excellent study in creativity, James :)
Would an old-fashioned flash light have done the trick?

Fabs,
Great question.
It would, however the color temp of the flashlight would be close to the color temp of the ambient light in this image.
I used a flash(strobe) for the contrast in color temp and sharpness.

neat shot. I like the concept and execution of this. The image is very pleasing and a great way to wait for a table.
