View Full Version : Ear of the Wind Arch

Out in Monument Valley a few years back and photographed this arch. You cannot get to this from the normal loop in the park. One needs to hire a guide in order to go there. Best time to shoot this is around 10AM since it's in a closed in area and the sun hits it around that time.
D200 F22, 1/500 24-120 lense, polarizer, 0 comp, ISO 300,tripod mtd

I like the use of the tree in the FG as it adds depth and balances well with the arch. I would have liked to see a bit more I think as the grass on the right seems truncated.

Hey Dave,
Know the tree well! Agree with the bottom silhouette needing to go through....I might also bring up a bit of the inner part of ear of the wind.....just to bring up some details that appear to be in there.

Very strong image with a lot of impact. Another way to deal with the silhouette of the FG grass in the right is to crop to the top of the tuft of grass in the right corner.
