The Mallard is an exotic waterfowl in South Africa and it is causing problems by interbreeding with native waterfowl.
This looks like the result of yellow-billed duck that has interbread with a Mallard duck.
The yellow billed duck has a metalic green speculum and on the Mallard it is metalic blue. The yellow-billed duck has the black saddle on the bill while the mallard not.
Any comments will be appreciated.

The Mallards, although not exotic here, have also been mixing with American Black Ducks and reducing the latters' "pure breed" population. Good exposure and sharpness, although focus point seems to be near the shoulder area. Neat BG, I like the gradiant from green to white.

I like the angle of flight in this Dave, and placed nicely in the comp. Sharpness and exposure both there, and he really pops from the BG so well. Great capture.

This duck really pops against that sweet BG! Thanks for explaining the duck differences over in your part of the world as well.

Good flight image of an interesting specimen, Dave. Light shows the features well. You could tone tone the bright reflections of the plumage a little if so inclined. Mallard issues are the same in NZ with them interbreeding and threatening our native Grey Duck (equivalent to Australian Black Duck)

I like the details, wing position, eye contact and BG. Maybe a bit more room at the bottom.

Love the flight pose in this image and the stunning BG. I agree a tad more canvas at the bottom would be nice but beautifully captured. Thanks for sharing Dave.

I wouldn't change anything to this already great image. Nice light and eye.
