I found this spider tucked down inside one of my pansy plants tonight.
Canon 40D, EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM
f5.6 @ 1/25th, ISO 400
Manual mode, pattern metering, handheld
Late evening light, Flash fired
Processed in ACR & CS4; small crop, small cloning, exposure adjustment, sharpening

Is this full frame? How about one with a little more close up of the spider to compare to? I do like the color, deep yellow to a light orange. A nice pattern with the 3/4 circle of the flower. The web looks good too. I think a closer view might enhance the spider, if that is your intention.

Grady, I did try to get in closer but he was getting ansy and I really didn't want him coming out of the web! This is full frame and I could have cropped in closer but I liked the relationship between the flower, the web and the spider and you could still see his eyes, etc. Actually, on the original (raw as opposed to a low-res jpeg, all the little hairs on his body and legs are visible so I left it full frame.
Thanks for the suggestions, though. I might go back and take another crack at it!
