These guys are scavangers. They will hang around carcasses, either on the ground, or in trees. They are fairly large birds, with a face, only a mother could love.

Nice to see one up in a tree, Stuart. Shows the whitewashed legs well - not the nicest cooling mechanism! Nice pose with open bill. Looks a little tight in the frame and opening up the aperture may have gained SS and blurred out the BG a little more.

I just photographed one in captivity this week-end, so great to see them in the wild!
I like ethe head angle and pose and the BG is what it is. Tightness has been mentioned.

Well, 1/250s. at 285mm focal lenght is no sweat with this IS lens and proper handholding technique :-) Did you gaussian blur the BG? It just doesn't look characteristic to the 1-4...

I agree with tightness in the frame, but i like the pose you got. This fella looks rather happy considering the task it has in hand.

Ugly arent they! Like the image Stu, but dont like the BG - looks unnaturally blurred.
