The mineral deposits in the rocks at the John Day Fossil Beds in central Oregon are awesome. Interestingly, the red rocks have nothing to do with the fossils.

I've seen some stuff from here. definitely an interesting place. I like the comp with the near/far perspective. I would crop above the sliver in the immediate foreground though. A nice image, works well in midday too.

A definite strong point of interest here is the red rock formations. Did you shoot more of just them? I agree with cropping the sliver at the bottom.

Hi Tom,
Do agree with the sliver at the bottom. Here, the time of day didn't affect the FG as much as it hurt the BG. An earlier or later time of day vould make this spectacular!
