Denise, this is a great image - you just stare at it waiting for the bud to pop open! I do like the soft midtones you went with here - I also think you could bump the contrast to emphasize the highs and lows and have a whole 'nother image. Very nicely done. Comp is interesting and fun. Subject is perfectly focused.

Hi Denise, I'm attracted to the color and sharpness of the image. Also to the fold in the unopen bloom.
I might suggest a crop about a third up from the bottom to give bloom more impact within the frame.
