Took a 2 hrs drive across the Border into Malaysia and came back with this high canopy KingFisher.
The angle is too steep and the bright spots are rather distracting.....however I am not missing out on this fella ! :p

Mervin:
What a wild little bird! Neon head dress. Your self critique is accurate, but def. a fun one
You should be able to darken the background a bit to downplay the bright spots. You could also crop in from the right or even go vertical to eliminate much of the background clutter/bright spots.
Thanks so much for sharing this colorful fellow!

Lovely male Banded Kingfisher. Amazing bird but luckily you find it at lower level as well ;)
I think the sharpness and the uniqueness is compensating you over the a slightly distracting bg.

The bird is so captivating, I didnt even notice the BG. Agree with Randy on the crop ideas.
What a beautiful bird!

Our Malachite kingfisher is very small, and I think this guy seems even smaller. Amazing colours, with a great head turn. Nits covered, and I agree a portrait crop would work best.
