Got a chance to do some photography today. Decided to pick one of my daffodils. The title is a bit of a trick.....as this was done indoors because it was very windy outside. I used my 10 million candle power flashlight to backlight this......reflector and small flashlight to bring out the shadow area some more. I purposefully wanted the BG to go black.....though normally I don't want that.....but here because of the strong/dramatic light.....I wanted the flower as the star. All tripod mounted with the 10 second timer engaged.
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 180 macro for 0.8 seconds at f29 and ISO 200. Manually focused.

Beautiful Roman!
Love that black bg and that light hitting the orange makes me think of fire. Great macro.

That's about as perfect as they come. Dang. I'm going to have to really figure out something cool to do with those Gerberas now.:D:eek:

Beautiful lighting technique and composition Roman. It's a stunning image.

Was your WB somewhere around 5300K to give you the warm light effect with your flashlight?

Hey Richard,
I use AWB as I can adjust in PP with Brezebrowser. That 10 million candle power(Cabela's) flashlight has 2 seeting. The high setting has a very white light. The lower setting is very warm/orange, so that is where the temp comes from.

Great capture.

I really like all the drama of the curves, angles, and wonderful color.

Thanks for sharing.
