The bird, the pose, and the EXP are all quite well done. The perch has many of the qualities of an unattractive perch:

1: too large for the subjext.
2- sawed off section.
3- uneven tonality and texture
4- broken off branch

Was the image created at a feeder set-up?

There is a great section on creating backyard and other set-ups in ABP II that includes a section on the qualities that we need to look for when selecting an ideal perch.

It was near a feeder in a public park. Will pay attention to perch selection next time. Thanks Artie !

As long as you do not get hassled for doing so that is the way to go.
