With a cloudy eastern horizon as the sun was rising, I knew this would be soft but I love the eyes on these elusive beauties. So I cranked it to 1600, locked in on that eye and hoped this shy beauty would hold the pose for a moment.

David:
A very soft feel, with nice background, very gentle light. Framing is very effective IMHO. The upper mandible seems a bit sharper than the eye, which may be from the difference in contrast between the two. I might try brightening the iris just a smidge and increasing the contrast. Noise seems very well controlled. Good DOF.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi David....Nice portrait and placed well within the frame. Also the backround is handled beautifully. It seemed like the image had a magenta caste on it and I ran it through auto levels....

I like the composition very much. Great eye contact and plumage detail. DOF is very good and I find the sharpness more than adequate. :) Thanks for sharing.

Superb Bg and what a terrific rendering of the eye. It looks really alive. I see the magenta cast and David´s repost is an improve. Terrific sharp BTW

Hi David, Very nice portrait. I like the composition and agree with the other that you have good details and a lovely background. In my opinion, Dave's repost was an improvement. Keep them coming.
