This vicious bird was having lunch in front of my office( Fort Myers, Fl) one saturday morning.Fortunately i had my camera in my truck that day.

Latin: lanius ludovicianus.

Many people on this forumn probably already know that "Lanius" is latin for "butcher" because of this behavior of hanging their prey on thorns, or barbs.

So, congrats on this quintessential shrike shot.

Ah, yes.....the butcher bird. Terrific behavioral image. Good exposure and sharpness. In the past I'd be tempted to clone out the wire above and below the bird but I seem to do that less today. Well done.....I'd love to have captured this one.

Very nice, if a bit gruesome. On butchers and birds, the Pied Butcher Bird in Australia has one of the most enchanting songs. It is also black and white like this shrike.
