Arsdel:

Great to catch him with the tounge out. Nice background and good exposure.

My biggest concern is that the image is quite soft. Despite the aperture, most of the bird is not critically sharp, and perhaps there was some motion effect from the shutter speed.

It might be possible to bring the sharpness up a bit with another round of USM, but I don't think it will come up enough to really please you.

I would be curious where your focal point was, since the sharpest point appears to be the back of the gorget and the start of the wing.

Thanks for sharing, and keep them coming!

I agree with Randy. You did get a nice BG, and a wicked perch - although some of the mosses are quite bright. The colours are beautiful :-)

Hi Arsdel Just wondering ..... were you hand holding? .. that is actually 800mm at 1/320 sec !! Have been using the 100-400 some with the 1.4X at Arties suggestion and have go admit it is capable of making sharp images !!!

Lovely colours and textures but agree that a degree of motion blur is hurting this image - may be worth trying to correct motion blur in PS to see if it makes a difference.
