I find myself with a few days in cape may beginning the 7th of May. I have never been before and wonder if anyone has suggestions. I would love to photograph shore birds especially and any bird in general. Are there particular spots for early morning and sunset? Any suggestions will help, 4 days worth....

You may be a tad early for the red knots although you can try Reeds Beach and Cooks Beach on the Delaware Bay in the morning. On the trails at CApe May State Park you may find some warblers. The impoundments near the beach in the state park are good for some shorebirds, terns etc. You should also look at the pools at Cape May meadows which is right up the road from the state park for shorebirds, ducks, wading birds etc. Its also good to check birdingonthe.net. There are always a lot of posts on birds in the vicinity of cape may by birders not necessarily bird photographers,

If you go as far north as Reeds Beach,you might want to go back down 47 to 147, and follow it over to North Wildwood. Just before the first bridge on 147, there is an osprey nest about 20 yards off the road on your right. Continue on a little way, and turn left. If you go over the toll bridge, and continue over Nummy's island, there should be egrets and herons out in the marshes. Check out Stone Harbor point for sanderlings, piping and other plovers, etc. on the beach. Also, www.birdcapemay.org (http://www.birdcapemay.org) has a bird and butterfly map of cape may county that you can download. Hope this helps.
