“I See You”

This little guy was so curious, that he let me come up real close and just stayed there posing. He was painted with a Nikon D2x, using a Nikkor 200mm f/4 IF-ED macro lens with a triple stack of Nikkor 12, 20 and 36mm extension tubes.

Image Solution:
focal length @ 200mm / exposure mode @ aperture priority / in camera matrix metering / 1/250sec. - f/32 / exposure comp @ -1.3EV / ISO @ 320 / white balance @ cloudy / AF - Mode @ manual / color space @ sRGB / lighting solution - Nikon R1C1 wireless close up speedlight system; both light units set to ¼ lumen burst with a wide dispersal pattern and attached diffuser. / tone comp @ +1 degree / hue adjustment @ +2 degrees / saturation factor @ +2 degrees / support platform - monopod assist.

Comments greatly appreciated...

Now that's IN YOUR FACE! Nice one, Gus. Would have liked a bit more focus on the front of the face, too but know how impossible that is with the extension tubes.

I think he needs a shave, Gus.

Good ultra-close-up... I guess that makes macro!:)

Wow!
Thanks for posting this and, as always, for the helpful technical information.

I really like this closeup. Though the frons (more or less the central "face" of an insect) is a bit OOF and distracting. I've found that by removing a tube and/or backing up a bit, f/32 brings more of the frons in focus.
