Hey Jeff, very cool critter, awesome colors. Can't help with the ID. This would also look good as a vertical. I could see a little crop off the left side and slight crop off the top and bottom. Nice BG. Well done.

A very attractive caterpillar jeff. You obviously had low available light (ISO 800) Where you using a tripod? if so selecting a smaller aperature would have given more DOF sharpening up some more of those spiny projections, particularly the rear end. Nice complimentry BG

Love the range of subtle color changes, green to gray to light blue. Very nice. I like the crop the way it is also.

I would try a slight S curve in PS for a little more contrast maybe.
