Male Spotted Pardolate photographed in local eucalypt woodland, just after dawn.

Canon 40D, EF5000 f/4 + 1.4tc + 12mm extension tube, 580EX flash + bb, tripod, ISO 200, 1/160, f.5.6, fec -1 2/3. Spot metering (unintentional!!), two small catchlights removed from lower part of eye, and a oof object removed from top right corner.

The bird looks great Simon, with a nice pose and excellent sharpness. The white spots on the wings look a little hot. The OOF perch is fairly distracting. Also, I would remove one of the two remaining catchlights. Thanks for posting!

Wonderful image Simon. I really like the pose, details and eye contact. The large branch in the background is a little distracting, not that you could do much about it.

The out of focus perch is a little distracting but only a little not enough to detract from the details and beauty of the pardalote Well done

What a gorgeous bird!! Great pose, and it lookslike it was rather close to you. Too bad about the large OOF branch.

Very nice image . Sharpness is excellent. I would have removed all but the perch bough.

Great bird Simon. One of my faves. Agreed about perch and I support Doug's comment re: second catchlight.

Well done Simon. A shame you couldn't get the whole bird in focus
