Captured on a local pond, where these generally not so easy to approach ducks are a bit less people shy. They still do keep some distance. I feel the pano crop works OK here. Almost full width too.

30D, 300mm f/4L IS USM and 1.4x, ISO400, nil exp. comp., f/5.6, 1/800, laying on grass at edge of pond. Rotated 0.7 degrees CW. IS it enough?

Interesting looking duck. Nice eye contact, sharpness and water. Not sure about more rotation. Different parts of the image seem to need it, sometimes in opposite directions? Did you capture any of the males?

What a nice complimentary BG to show off this beauty!! Nice low angle, colors and detail.

Killer bird and sharpness. Perfect EXP. Could probably use a bit of CW rotation. Did you ue the Clone Stamp on the water in front of the bird' neck????????

All in all an excellent image.

I love the light, colors, ambient, and comp, I think, again, that IMHO it has a mixture of too much NR and a little too much USM.
Still, great shot. Congratulations!

Nice low angle mate I prefer the whole bird in focus, but then again I am a dinosaur as you so politely remindme. All the best mate

IMHO, the amount of sharpening is perfect and there is zero evidence of too much NR.

Akos: please answer the clone stamp question.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Sorry Artie, been off line since Saturday AM AEDST. No cloning at all Maestro. I have attached a crop of the tiff conversion from the RAW file at 100%.

Thanks Askosh. The Photoshop Police would have been all over you on that!

That's funny Artie. :) The photoshop police? I thought one only needed to worry about the HAP. Now the PSP?
