Image created around 5:30am on nearly full moon last week.
Canon 40D, 17-40f/4L at 17mm. ISO 200
f/5.6, 30 sec. Mirror raised, cable release used. Pretty windy and cold.
Landscapes are not my forte' but I love them anyway and trying to learn

I like the expansiveness here Bill. Having the moon blurred does detract a little from the impact of the image. Also, next time (if there is a next time), try moving a bit to the left to get the silhouetted sailboats in the moon's reflection. I think that will balance things out a bit more and keep the boats from disappearing into the night. You might also try this as a vertical concentrating on the reflection and the boats.

Bill,
It's a very good idea and your execution looks fine. What the image suffers from is the emptiness evoked by the sailboats anchored in the distance juxtaposed against the huge, barren foreground. Next time, try to compose with a strong foreground element and the result should be a much stronger image.

Cheers,
David
