Friends, this one was just a trial shot - I was trying some experiments on handheld extreme macros (5x magnification).

Used a ring flash to capture the details of the body of this tiny house cob. The body length was less than 5 mm!

Something to notice here: somehow this cob had seven legs; one of those seven is missing - maybe lost during any encounter. :o

Canon 40D with Canon ef 65mm F/2.8 Macro lens and a ring flash, 5x Magnification, handheld :D

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome!

Santanu, The BG color is great and the cob? looks pretty sharp-it might be more interesting on a diagonal.Very neat!!

He's definitely missing a leg, isn't he!

Love that BG color...how'd you get that?

I think more DOF would work better but you sure got some great detail on some of his body! I would agree that turning him a little more on a diagonal would give an even stronger composition and including the missing part of his "backside" would have helped, too.

As far as experiments go, I say keep going!

Hey Santanu, I think it looks pretty cool, it looks like it was shot with a lensbaby.
