Hi Robert - I like your composition here and the lovely feather detail shown in the nuptial plumes. Nice one..!!

Great EXP and lovely image design but with that perch I would have gone for a super-long focal length.

Agree Artie, He was there only a moment so no time to snap on the 50D body and a 1.4x. Got a few with the 5D Mark II. However, with that file I can crop it a lot closer. Will do that and repost at lunch.

Should have seen it before the branch removal.

I actually like it as it is, the perch not being cliped makes it work very well for me, light, pose, detail, exposure and comp are terrific. Congratulations!

Hi Robert: It was great to have the opportunity to shoot with you again last weekend. I actually like this picture as is. I am sure you have many pictures of up-close snowies in breeding plumage. What I like about this one is that you have a gorgeous bird actually "adorning" a bare tree. There's something about the stark contrast of the two that is appealing to the eye.

I could not agree more with Marina. Exactly what I had in mind.

Here is the more cropped version. Cannot help but clip the branch on the right side now. The Canon 5D Mark II really gives you a lot of options with its high-res IQ.

Hi Rob,

I like the original post better. The square crop does not work for me. Gatorland this weekend??

I quite like the comp on your original post Robert, nice job with the exposure too.
