Had the opportunity to photograph a few Wilson's Plovers last month during Artie's IPT in Florida. The prey item seems to be a some type of crustacean. This guy started to run all of a sudden and from a burst of 4 shots this was the only sharp and subject-unclipped frame.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @ 400mm, aperture priority, eval metering, 1/1250s., f/7.1, ISO 400, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition ( ~75% full frame).

Daniel:

You really do get the sense that he is running off with his chow.

Nice exposure, capture of the action, framing. Hard to tell about the head angle on lunch!

I might consider cloning out the mud clump in right lower corner.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Nice Shot Daniel,
The running pose and dangling crustacean give it a little something extra. Good details and colour on the bird.

Yes, Daniel, they are always after the little crabs or whatever they are. Great exposure and running pose. Not crazy about the mud, though.

Nice job on showing the sense of motion. Like the colors and the crab.

Bird is good and sharp, lots of detail, sense of motion on the run and with his meal. Good work capturing the action.
