This Horseshoe Crab is a common site, at times, on Florida's Gulf beaches. In contrast to appearances, this is not a dead animal, but rather a molted exoskeleton (i.e., it is completely hollow on the inside). This one was photographed at Fort DeSoto. 20D, 28-135 at 70mm, 1/180, f/9.5, ISO 200, hand held. Comments are welcome.

Interesting composition and colors.

It works for me.

Trying to visualize it with a little more crop off the top.

This works for me Steve. I like the placement of your subject in frame I like the strong contrasting earth tones and hues of the subject against the pale and bland background...nicely done...congrats...

Yes! Great colors and details, Steve. I really like the comp with the skeleton on the diagonal but also agree that putting it a little closer to that top corner would be even better. I also like that you can make out individual grains of sand in the BG....well done!
