I like the bird and the environment, but it seems to have a slight misfocus. It could be just my eyes after a 13 hour day looking at MRI pictures on a computer screen

The eye does seem a bit soft, perhaps a combination of subject movement and focus point which seems to be on body close to where it meets the water. I'm sure selective sharpening of the face would help with this at least a bit. I've never seen a Least Grebe apart from field guides, but this one seems a bit purplish to me. Reducing the saturation in both the magenta and blue channels will give it a "browner" look. Nice low angle, and I love the undulating duckweed. Cropping about half the space at bottom would strengthen the comp IMO as the FG OOF duckweed does not add much. Keep them coming!!

I like the bow wave of duckweed, Fernando - I haven't seen that before. That and the bits of duckweed scattered on the body help to make this image unique. The grebe has a good pose and head angle. I agree about trying to sharpen the head and neck a little more and cropping some off the bottom.

Very cute bird and I like the setting, angle and details. I agree regarding removing the color cast.

Agree with the above comments and suggestions, I also noticed that the head looks a bit soft at what ISO were you shooting?

Congratulations.

Thanks everyone for your comments ! Ramón, I used ISO 400 and Flash at -2/3, it was an overcast day.

Nice capture of an odd-looking little critter. If you correct the magenta cast, that will bring out the green of the "soup" very nicely.
